| The Treasure Hunt Book |
This book contains a range of
treasure hunts with re-usable clues allowing kids of all ages to join in.
The clues range from the very straight forward to cryptic clues for the older
child.
The treasure hunts can be used outside or indoors - ideal as a back up if a
summer party gets rained off as well as for a planned treasure hunt party.
All the children who have followed one of the hunts I have used, have loved it.
Thoroughly recommended. |

If you're thinking about organising a birthday party to mark
the first year milestone, my best tip is to look after you and
your little boy - and leave everyone else to fend for themselves!! :-)
Delegate, delegate, delegate. Give everybody a job to do as they arrive,
something to look after and be 'in charge' of so you don't even have to think.
That will make sure the birthday boy has a lovely day - no tears (from you or
him!!) ;-)

As they get older, start off by thinking of an
age-appropriate theme - your child's likes and dislikes will be important but
if you are entertaining a number of other children, it's best to think of a
theme that's 'in' with most of them.
Currently, you might think of Bob the Builder, Pokemon or
Thomas the Tank Engine.
If you have girls and boys coming to the party then think of something that
will appeal to both sexes such as Knights & Unicorns or Pirates and
Mermaids.
If you've already reached an age when it's single-sex, then try
Dinosaurs or
Lego Racers whereas girls will always enjoy
being a Barbie Princess or Fairy .
 |
|
| |
Now you're ready to develop your theme! You'll be surprised just how the theme
helps you organise and get inspired for related games, prizes and food.
Setting your theme
You'll need to remember to plan for
1. Finger food
2. Cake/s
3. Games
4. Music
5. Decorations
6. Gifts for party bags
(and the party bags themselves)

Here are some examples from our own experience.
Age 1, We invited local Godparents and a friend turned up with her baby. We
stuck a candle in a Cadbury's chocolate roll and sang happy birthday! It went
down really well!
Age 2, we did Jungle Animals at home
Age 3, we did Pirates and Mermaids in a local scout hut
Age 4, we avoided the whole issue and went on a trip to Legoland instead
Age 5, we took them all to a local pantomime with interval refreshments
provided by mum, then had a tea party at home for 3 or 4 close friends
Age 6, we hired a Fit Kids instructor with a parachute! (It's for running under
- not jumping with!!)
Age 7 , we did one of those pubs that has a climbing area attached.
Aged 8, we did a ten pin bowling party.
For boys aged 9 or 10, try a
SPY PARTY!
