Smart Moves
Your Guide Through the Emotional Maze of Relocation (currently out of
print) |
Writing a chapter on the effects
of relocation on children for the Handbook of Child Psychiatry, the author was
struck with the difficulty many children experienced following a move, and with
the lack of resources available to help adults or children deal with the
stresses of relocation.
So she began to work, with expert colleagues, on a book that could help both
individuals and families better prepare for and deal with the stresses of
relocation to produce the excellent Smart Moves (currently out of
print). |

Really Moving
has a useful planning and reminder service and an easy-to-use free service to

An amazing set of financial calculators

Boilers |
|
| |
Sounds a bit boring, but if you have central heating, then you might want to
check out your boiler. Boilers usually manage to break down in winter so you'll
want to make sure that yours is up to scratch before you move. If the boiler in
your new home is over 15 years old, it's probably time you gave it the elbow
and replaced it with a new one.
Think about energy-saving. Condensing boilers have been a controversial choice
in the past, but are the most energy efficient and will save you around a third
on your heating bills straight away.
If we all switched to a condensing boiler, we'd save £1.3 billion a
year!
Log on to www.boilers.org.uk. Answer a few questions and they'll even
help you work out the optimum boiler size for your new home. (Smaller than you
might think!!)
