Feeding Your Baby and Toddler

by Annabel Karmel |
Annabel Karmel is a leading
authority on feeding the under-fives and is a trained Cordon Bleu chef and
mother of three.
This book is an absolute essential for every new mum. It starts
with first foods and goes on to encourage a healthy approach to diet while
offering recipes that are easy for parents to cook, but also, importantly, ones
that parents and kids would actually want to eat.
Brilliant colour illustrations and photographs, I'm a real fan of this book.

Here's a note on
preparing lunch boxes generally
Don't forget an insulated container and a cold pack. Schools are warm places
and don't have refrigeration available for packed lunches. And see our section
on nutrition and food safety.

The Picnic Basket |
|

We've found a great article for you by Charlotte Russe about planning, packing
and transporting picnic food, plus keeping it cool and serving it - all
accompanied by delightful illustrations (feed your mind with fine art!)

Here's an extract all about preparing
Children's Picnic Boxes or Bags
 |
|
| |
A picnic can provide an opportunity to meet up with friends and their families.
Making up individual 'tuck bag' containers for youngsters provides a fun treat.
The food itself can be quite ordinary - favourite sandwiches, a small pie, some
fruit - with a treat like a chocolate biscuit bar and crisps, but the packaging
makes it special.
Sandwiches can be cut into letter shapes or fancy shapes using cutters and
cakes or biscuits can be decorated with the children's names.
Buy individual carrier bags and attach name labels. Small children will feel
very privileged with their own particular bags while adults will be able to
relax over their food with their friends.
Just make sure that all the tuck bags contain the same goodies - or there may
be squabbles
